Another year has rushed by us and with a blink we are at the door step of 2010. This coming year as with the last and the next we will be put in the position of looking for the most suitable products and learning toys for our children.
In the past we may have forgone purchasing some of the newer educational toys and instead choosing an older style but proven toy or game such as building blocks or another type of wooden toy. This is always a safe option, better the devil you know… and these toys are great, there’s no doubting that.
In 2010 and onwards as technology increases and the number of educational products suitable for children grow as well as the demand for high quality and unique toys and games. These products are designed in a way that without noticing the children are being stimulated and their abilities tested this creating entertainment for them and satisfying our need for their development. Educational toys like the Diego toys (go-diego-go) 4 in a box Jigsaw Puzzles kit which contains 4 different puzzles each has progressively more pieces starting at 12 pieces and progressing through 16, 20 and finally 24 pieces, as well as being of high quality and being illustrated beautifully they are made from recycled board which is good for the environment.
In 2010 look for the best children’s educational toys that are both a bit different and provide the same level of stimulation as an older style toy and your kids will love you for it.

When we buy toys for kids or grandkids there are things we look for, such as safety, how interactive the toy is, how much the child can learn, how physically active the child must be to use the game (how much they run round) and if the game/ toy provides room to grow with minimum expense and of course how robust the toy is.
If a child uses an outside toy such as a Tonka dump truck where the kids will get physical stimulation, social interaction/ awareness, coordination and are only limited by their own imagination there are many benefits. However one main reason parents would hesitate to buy products like these is because in this society we currently all have time and resource constraints and these sorts of toys require us being more involved and a bigger part of play with our kids.
TV programs like Go Diego Go and Dora the explorer along with their interactive toys (diego toys) allow parents to monitor their kids while remaining able to continue their household upkeep. These sorts of toys and programs have the benefit of being mentally stimulating. By using education in a way where the kids are developing as well as having their learning thirst satisfied both parents and children can benefit.
There are benefits to both types of toys/games and TV. Communication with other kids as opposed to being introvert and antisocial from playing computer games or watching too much TV is vital. In saying this an even balance of both can prove successful. In this world we live in we need to give our kids the best start they can get.

With this smart handheld system, children learn valuable school skills through a variety of animated games and activities. Kids use the interactive touch screen and stylus throughout 30 educational games featuring characters they love. The Leapster2 System also offers several options for creative play. Little learners can easily connect online for extra activities and rewards. And best of all, parents can use the Leapster2 to connect to the LeapFrog Learning Path, an online, interactive tool in which parents can get updates and see firsthand what their children are learning.

Fun and Learning Leapster 2 games are designed to grow with your child ages 4 through 8. The console is pre-loaded with two games: The “Dragons to the Rescue! Learning Game,” is a “video game” type activity with four different levels, the first helping kids identify letters and numbers, the most advanced giving them spelling and multiplication practice, all while navigating a dragon past monstrous storm clouds and scrambling to collect magic crystals. The “Creativity Castle Art Studio” is a rather low-tech art program. Players can select a background scene to “color” using the stylus and “decorate” with fun animated stamps. While it does foster creativity, this program is somewhat clumsy — your Paint program on your PC does a much better job. But “Dragons” was fun enough to keep even an adult tester enjoyably diverted.

Diego toys and their educational value.
By allowing our kids to watch TV programs like Dora the explorer or play with ‘Diego toys’ we are trying to open them up to the best opportunities through developing their hunger for learning.
Parents all want what’s best for their offspring including the best in education and all the successes that may come with it. A common belief is that that earlier a child starts to develop to more their brain will absorb thus increasing their chances of success. However I believe it’s not only the amount of new information a young mind can/ will absorb but the ability to process that information.
For the right age group it’s most beneficial for young children to play, this allows them to be creative and help to develop their individuality, imagination and thinking ability. For a later age group more challenging tasks or games like Lego or puzzles might be best these are suitable for helping to develop their problem solving skills, and decision making capability.
When it comes to problem solving skills or trying to learn a new task I think a fun, brightly coloured and interactive program is great for the kids. Where languages are involved like in Dora the explorer or Go- Diego-Go there are many strengths and benefits. One such strength is breaking the race barrier due to the multi cultural characters. Also the inclusion of different languages is a challenge for the child and a valuable method of pushing their thinking ability at an early age. The benefit of these programs and games is that by working the mind the child they may optimise their learning and reach their full potential.
The Diego toys range and Dora the explorer toys and DVD’s are a way of implementing educational toys into a market with the maximum benefit to the kids.

What are they, what are they all about and why are kids and adults alike all so crazy about them? It is apparent that the number of preschoolers watching these shows and playing with their Dora/ Diego toys is growing rapidly. Dora the explorer and her cousin Diego both of Nick Jr. are designed to be eye catching with bright colours and catchy theme songs. The kids are addicted, each ½ hour show just isn’t long enough. If it wasn’t for the structure of these programs which incorporates teaching vocabulary, language skills as well as music, and other lessons (math, science, observation and physical coordination) into their adventures then parents wouldn’t be so keen to rush out and buy the DVD’s available for both shows or the educational toys to match.
